Introduction to CENELEC GUIDE 32

The main purpose of CENELEC GUIDE 32 is to provide guidance on risk assessment and risk reduction to ensure the safety of low voltage equipment. This helps the Technical Committee make decisions on the safety of low voltage equipment and to determine the document type to verify the risk assessment. It also focuses on assessing risks that may occur during the lifetime of low voltage equipment and implementing basic measures to reduce them by supplementing ISO/IEC Guide 51

Coverage

CENENLEC GUIDE 32 is applicable to all electrical equipment designed with a voltage rating of 50V to 1000V AC or 75V to 1500V DC, including household appliances such as electric shavers and electric steamers.

Select Scenario

Select Severity   Please select the severity of injury/damage when you are exposed to the selected risk factors and an injury occurs..

Select Severity of harm
S1 slight harm (reversible short term)
S2 high harm (reversible long term)
S3 serious harm (irreversible) or death

Select Exposure   Please select the frequency of exposure to risk factors.

Select Probability of occurrence of harm
F1 seldom-to-less-often and/or exposure time is short (ex: fault, fix, Automatic operation)
F2 frequent-to-continuous and/or exposure time is long (ex: normal operation, Manual)

Select Avoidance Possibility   Please select the injury or risk factors according to whether they can be reduced or not.

SelectPossibility of preventing or reducing injury/damage
P1 avoidance possible (ex: skilled persons, warning signs and indicating device)
P2 avoidance scarcely possible (ex: unskilled persons, absence directive)
